2007 East rower, Britt Hughes, has this to say about rowing at MSU:
"Rowing at Michigan State has been a challenging yet exciting learning experience. The college level is much different than high school. We practice on average 20 hours on the water every week, then we have about 4 hours of solo work each week, and then always have 8 hours of mandatory study table. So on average we have 32 hours of team commitment each week. We have a great team of coaches, weight lifting trainers, and student athlete academic trainers.
I have learned a lot, not only about rowing itself but how to really work as part of a team, come together, and work hard to achieve the goal of winning. It is a huge commitment but it has been a real great year and I am happy to have the opportunity that I have to row on a big 10 team!"
